Soleil
A moment to unwind in the city.
Discover European-style curry at Soleil (欧風カレー・ソレイユ) in Nibancho, Chiyoda. From slow-simmered Japanese Black beef and savory grilled chicken to seafood curries, enjoy a varied menu in relaxed surroundings.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Hanging its noren curtain on the ground floor of a building in Nibancho, Chiyoda, Soleil (欧風カレー・ソレイユ) serves classic Japanese European-style curry enriched with fond de veau and the natural sweetness and depth of its ingredients in a calm dining room. Beyond standard lunch hours, evening diners can linger over small appetizers paired with wine or beer.
Among the standout menu choices is the Kuroge Wagyu beef curry, made with tender A5-grade beef simmered slowly until meltingly soft. The rich, glossy roux absorbs the savoriness of the beef, delivering a deep, layered flavor with every spoonful. For diners who prefer a roasted aroma, the domestic young chicken curry offers tender thigh meat pan-seared to a crisp finish outside while staying juicy within. The kitchen also prepares limited-quantity specialties, including a beef tongue curry with warm vegetables—limited to five servings a day—featuring meat simmered for ten hours until remarkably tender.
The menu extends well beyond meat, featuring seafood options such as a mixed seafood curry generous with prawns, scallops, and squid, as well as a scallop curry highlighting shellfish from Hokkaido. The dry curry pairs seasoned minced beef and pork cooked with vegetables and fruit alongside the house curry sauce, letting diners experience two contrasting styles on a single plate. Half sizes are offered for staple varieties like beef, chicken, prawn, and cheese curries, while add-ons such as cheese, soft-poached onsen eggs, and crispy fried onions allow for personal tailoring.
In the evening, the restaurant serves appetizers such as Camembert ajillo, oven-baked whelk snails, and gizzard confit, which can be enjoyed alongside wine or beer. Supported by attentive table service, it provides a quiet setting to enjoy quality European-style curry, whether during a weekday lunch break or for dinner after work.
